Many, Many Thanks!

Boys and girls of the Qattan Centre for the Child, Finglas and Pembroke libraries, many, many thanks for your participation here on the 'Books without Boundaries' blog. With regret, the project is now at an end, and the blog and its activities must be 'put to bed', so to speak.

It has been both fun and an enjoyable experience meeting with you here in this space or in person, and having you take part in the project. I hope that all of you who took part in the blog have enjoyed being involved and the activities you engaged in. More importantly, I hope you have enjoyed the experience of engaging with the boys and girls in the other participating libraries.

We wish you all well, and hope you continue to enjoy your library and your involvement in its various activities!

Eddie, Heyam and Ibrahim

On a piece of land generously contributed by the city's municipality, the A.M. Qattan Foundation built the Qattan Centre for the Child in Gaza City, an independent children's library and information centre aimed at improving the cultural, social, educational, recreational and psychological environment for a large section of the Gaza Strip's child population, regardless of their gender, religion, physical or mental status or social background. The Centre opened officially in 2004.

The Centre aims to achieve its goals through a first-class library and information service for children up to the age of 15, as well as their parents, carers and teachers.

The library contains over 70,000 volumes and multimedia materials, covering a wide range of subjects in Arabic and several languages; audiovisual and IT equipment for computer and Internet access. The Centre also contains a multi-purpose hall for social, cultural and art activities, an IT training unit, study areas, a mobile library and a number of other services.
